Man charged with Arson in March fire at Wasaga Beach

A weeks-long investigation into a suspicious residential fire in Wasaga Beach has resulted in an arson charge.

Emergency crews were called to the scene in the early morning hours of March 22, after a fire broke out at a home on Mosley Street near 21st Street North.

The fire was determined to be suspicious in nature, and members of the Huronia West Crime Unit began investigating the incident as a possible arson.

As a result of the investigation, a 50-year-old man from Markham was arrested and charged with arson. contrary to section 434 of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Collingwood on August 25.

Police say the investigation is still active and are continuing to gather information. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Huronia West OPP.
