A 46-year-old man from Tottenham is facing several charges after Nottawasaga OPP responded around 3:30 Friday morning to reports of a vehicle travelling northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 400.

Police say other drivers had to take evasive action to avoid a head-on collision.

The vehicle exited the highway at a service station in Innisfil, where police located the driver and placed them under arrest.

The motorist was charged with impaired driving, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, and dangerous operation.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days, and their driver's licence was suspended for 90 days.
