Two men are facing charges, and a South Simcoe Police cruiser may need a repair job after officers responded to an LCBO in Innisfil Wednesday when staff reported a pair of individuals and a vehicle that matched the descriptions linked to a theft at a liquor store in Barrie.
Police say staff reported that one of the men entered the LCBO and placed eight bottles of alcohol into a basket. When the employees were briefly away from the register, it's alleged the individual left the store without paying for the items.
Once outside, the man noticed responding officers.
He ditched the basket and attempted to flee on foot, but was arrested.
Police say the other male was in a Chevrolet Camaro that was reported stolen in Peel Region.
As officers approached the vehicle, police say the driver attempted to flee and accelerated into a marked police cruiser parked behind the Camaro.
There were no injuries.
Police say the vehicle contained a stolen Ontario licence plate and eight bottles of alcohol that had been reported stolen from the Barrie LCBO.
Both suspects were written up on a variety of charges and held for a bail hearing.
