Barrie police say a traffic stop has led to a long list of charges against two men and an investigation into another vehicle theft.
Police say officers spotted a driver Saturday afternoon at Bradford and Tiffin Streets who they recognized as being prohibited from driving.
The vehicle was pulled over on Essa Road, just north of Burton Avenue.
While speaking with the driver, police say officers noticed a white powdery substance in the centre cup holder. The driver and three passengers were arrested.
During a search of one of the male passengers, police say officers found identity documents belonging to other people. They also seized two prohibited knives and break-and-enter tools.
Police also discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that morning.
A 46-year-old Barrie man was charged with operation while prohibited, possession of an identity document, failure to comply with a release order, failure to comply with a probation order, and theft of a motor vehicle.
A 42-year-old Barrie man was charged with possession of break-in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts each of unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of an identity document, failure to comply with a probation order, and four counts of possession of a credit card.
Police say the investigation also determined the 42-year-old suspect was allegedly involved in the theft of a vehicle from Quinlan Road on Aug. 20, resulting in additional charges of theft of a motor vehicle, trespass at night, and possession of stolen property by crime under $5,000.
The second suspect in the Quinlan Road vehicle theft, along with the stolen vehicle, remaining outstanding.
The other two vehicle occupants were released unconditionally.
