Youth faces charges in Innisfil stabbing

A stabbing in Innisfil on Sunday has resulted in charges against a youth.

Around 11:20 p.m., South Simcoe Police responded to a report of an assault after a group of youths said their friend had been stabbed following an altercation in the area of 20th Sideroad and Benson Street.

Police say officers located the victim, who had suffered several lacerations to their body.

The victim was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

A youth turned themselves over to police and was held for a bail hearing.

The individual has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to comply with an undertaking.

Police say they believe this was an isolated incident and there is no ongoing concern for public safety.
