Two men face a total of 27 charges after OPP in Orillia responded to a report of a gunshot in the area of Davey Drive around 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police were provided with a description of a vehicle that left the area, and it was quickly located and stopped in the area of Westmount Drive South and Barrie Road. An officer suffered minor injuries during the traffic stop.
Officers including from the Emergency Response Team and Canine Unit did a sweep of the area and recovered a firearm and magazine.
A 26-year-old Toronto man has been charged with:
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order - two counts
- Possession of Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order - two counts
- Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of Prohibited Device for a Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Firearm - Use While Committing Offence
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Under $5000;
A 28-year-old Brantford man has been charged with:
- Flight from Peace Officer
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Dangerous Operation
- Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammo
- Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of Prohibited Device for a Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Firearm - Use While Committing Offence
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Under $5000
- Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon
Both suspects are to appear in court on Thursday.
Police believe this to be an isolated incident and that there is no threat to public safety
