
A drug trafficking investigation in Barrie's downtown area has resulted in one man being charged with multiple counts of drug possession on Wednesday evening.
Around 6 p.m., Barrie Police's Drug and the High Harm units were conducting their investigation in the area of Mulcaster Street between McDonald and Codrington Streets.
Subsequently, a 38-year-old man was found to be possessing a large quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, and prescription pills; valued at an approximate total of $40,000. Police say they also seized nearly $18,000 cash and an e-bike.
The man, from Barrie is facing nine total charges including possessing cocaine, fentanyl, and hydromorphone and possessing those drugs for the purpose of trafficking. He is also charged with possessing proceeds of property obtained by crime, failure to comply with a probation order, and operation while prohibited.
