Voting is underway in the Township of Ramara's 2026 Municipal and School Board Election, with eligible electors able to cast their ballots online, by telephone, or through one of three advance paper ballot opportunities.
Voting opened this morning (Thursday, Oct. 8) at 9 a.m. and will remain available online and by telephone until 8 p.m. on Election Day, Oct. 26.
Voter Information Letters (VILs) have been mailed to registered electors and include voting instructions as well as the PIN required to vote online or by telephone. Township officials are encouraging residents to review the information for accuracy and keep their PIN in a secure location.
Electors who have not received their VIL by Oct. 8, or who need to update their voter information, are being directed to visit the Township's election website or contact the election team for assistance.
Residents choosing to vote online can cast a ballot using a computer, tablet or mobile device with internet access. Telephone voting is also available throughout the voting period.
Those who prefer a paper ballot can vote during one of three advance voting opportunities:
- Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Township Administration Building, 2297 Highway 12
- Oct. 15 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ramara Centre, 5482 Highway 12
- Oct. 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ramara Centre, 5482 Highway 12
Voters attending a paper ballot location are asked to bring identification showing proof of name and qualifying address, along with their VIL if available.
NOTE: Paper ballots will not be available on Election Day. Electors voting on Oct. 26 must use the online or telephone voting systems, which will remain open until 8 p.m.
A Voter Assistance Centre has been established at the Ramara Administration Building and will operate during regular business hours until Oct. 23. On Election Day, the centre will be open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Tablet devices will be available at the assistance centre for electors who need internet or device access to vote online. Public computers are also available at Township of Ramara Public Library branches during regular operating hours.
Eligible electors in Ramara will vote for mayor, deputy mayor, their ward councillor where the position has not been acclaimed, and the applicable school board trustee.
