Barrie Police rescued a couple of cats that had become locked in a room at a home.

The owner had been trying for hours to open the door on Monday before calling the police for help.

In the video, a woman is heard telling an officer that she had tried using a hammer to open the door.

The video shows an officer kicking the door. Within seconds, it opened, and the cats were free to roam again.

Police say they’re here to help the community with emergencies and non-emergencies — even when it involves beloved family pets.
