A Barrie man is celebrating a $100,000 lottery win after checking his tickets during a late-night trip to the store.
Serge P. won the MaxPlus prize in the October 2, 2026 Lotto Max draw.
He says he's been playing the lottery on and off for about 40 years, but this is his first big win.
Serge was at the store around midnight to buy a drink when he decided to scan some tickets he had with him.
He says he took a picture of the winning ticket and immediately called his wife, who was the first person he told.
The first ticket wasn't a winner, but the second revealed the $100,000 prize.
She was just as surprised, asking him, "Are you kidding me?"
Serge plans to use the money to pay some bills and put some aside for a rainy day.
He describes the experience as surreal, adding that he's still processing the life-changing win.
