A 38-year-old man of no fixed address is up on charges after Barrie Police responded shortly before 1 p.m. on Sunday about a man armed with a knife and waving it in a dangerous manner at a Mulcaster Street address.
"The male had reportedly left the area on foot but was located a short distance away by responding officers. After a brief interaction that effectively de-escalated the situation, police took the man into custody. He was transported to Barrie Police Headquarters where the investigation continued," police said in a news release on Monday.
The man has been charged with the following:
- fail to comply with probation order (7 counts)
- cause a disturbance
- carrying a concealed weapon
- possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- assault police with a weapon
The man was held for a bail hearing that was scheduled to take place on Monday.
