Our team is looking to reach new milestones this year and bring the trophy home! To all our supporters, I look forward to our home opener and seeing everyone there.”
The team is also welcoming back goalkeeper Alicia Chisholm and forward Marlene Siwula from the Rovers' inaugural season in 2022. After spending the 2023 season with the Oakville Blue Devils, their return adds depth and experience to the squad, further solidifying the Rovers' lineup for the upcoming season.
Defender Michelle Plowman shares, “I’m most excited to get back on the field with all the girls. We all share the same love and passion for the game and when combined with hard work, I know we will not only improve individually, but as a team and that will lead to a successful season."
Alyssa Nikkel, who was the Rovers' Player of The Year in 2023 added, “I’m excited about the strong core of returning players and looking forward to welcoming new and talented players to our group. With the returning coaching staff, I’m excited to see the women’s team strive to replicate the success of the men’s squad this year.”
Head Coach Dave Kelly, who played a pivotal role in securing the signatures of the core group of players, expressed his excitement about the team's prospects and echoed the players' excitement.
"I'm excited to bring back the core group of players from last season," said Kelly. "These players performed very well and were at the core of what made us strong. I'm excited to see them back at J.C. Massie Field again and seeing how they will work alongside some of our new faces who we are adding to the group as we look to build on the positive performances from last year.”
The Rovers' Women's Sporting Director, Will Devellis, echoed Kelly's sentiments, emphasizing the team's commitment to building a competitive roster for the 2024 season. "We are excited about the group we have assembled for 2024," said Devellis. "Bringing in players with international experience, as well as seeing exceptional growth from within our younger group, has us motivated and excited to get started."
