Barrie's real estate market showed some pep to begin 2024.
According to a report on Thursday from the Barrie & District Association of Realtors, there were 142 home sales in the city last month compared to 98 in January 2023, a 44.9 per cent difference.
Month-to-month, homes sales were up 27.9 per cent in January compared to December 2023.
Year-over-year, the average price for a home in Barrie really didn't change much, coming in at $729,882 last month compared to $729, 590 in January 2023.
Last December, the average price of a home in the city was $700,785.
Home sales in Simcoe County also got off to a good start last month.
"The January statistics reflect a vibrant and growing market in Simcoe County. With the rise in sales and listings, along with stable prices, we're observing a market that is adjusting well and poised for continued growth. The significant increase in new listings from last month is particularly encouraging, as it contributes to a balanced and healthy real estate environment,” said BDAR Chair, Lindsay Percy.
