As golf courses and boat launches opened today, Ontario health officials reported a spike in new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday at 391, the largest increase the province has seen since May 9.
There is a total of 22,313 cases of the virus, with more than 17,000 recoveries.
In the past 24 hours, COVID-19 claimed 33 more lives in Ontario, which brings the death toll to 1,858.
The number of people in hospital is just under 1,000 with 180 of those in ICU.
Nearly 18,000 tests were performed.
The figures came out as Ontario begin the first phase of the economic recovery with the opening of golf courses and some boat launches and marinas. Not all municipalities have opened boat launches and marinas as they need more time to prepare.
On Tuesday, retail stores outside of shopping malls with street entrances can begin reopening with physical distancing measures in place.
