A three-way partnership between Innisfil IdeaLAB & Library, Gilda's Club Simcoe Muskoka, and the Innisfil Community Foundation team, Worry Creature Workshop is a virtual workshop to teach youth strategies for dealing with some of the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hosted by Certified Child Life Specialist, Jocelyn Leworthy, the workshop helps validate children’s worries and teaches them coping strategies (like worry creatures) which help children express and manage heavy feelings.

“When children write/draw worries and feed them to their worry creature they no longer have to feel this weight on their own, they can get back to being kids and doing the things they enjoy,” explains Leworthy. “Feeding the worry creature can also encourage family communication, allowing adults the opportunity to facilitate conversation, provide validation, and help children cope and manage their concerns.”

The Worry Creature Workshop takes place on April 17 at 2:00 p.m., is free, and includes an interactive worry creature kit. Simply head over to the website, register, and library staff will follow up to arrange a time for curbside pick-up.
