Like your mom always says, 'breakfast is the most important meal of the day'! Here are a few must-try breakfast spots in and around Barrie that mom is sure to approve of

one twenty five Breakfast Club - 125 Mississaga St E, Orillia

The new kid on the block in downtown Orillia, 125 Breakfast Club focuses on putting a fun twist on breakfast classics. The buzz is all about their signature Unicorn Pancakes - a mini-stack of multi-coloured pancakes topped with whipped cream, an icing unicorn 'horn' and Lucky Charms marshmallows - but their other breakfast items are just as delicious. Did we mention they also serve Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream and Butter Tarts? Yep...they do.

The Farmhouse Restaurant - 268 Bradford St, Barrie

The Farmhouse prides themselves on farm fresh comfort food, and that's exactly what they bring to their breakfast offerings. Everything is made from scratch every day, and their menu changes based on what is available to them from local farmers. Trust us, you will not be disappointed by breakfast or brunch at the Farmhouse.

Dunlop Street Diner - 20 Dunlop St E, Barrie

It took the owners of Dunlop Street Diner almost a year to renovate the historical space they occupy in Downtown Barrie. The Diner has a cozy, vintage feel, complete with photos of Dunlop St. 100 years ago hanging on the walls. They even have vegetarian and gluten free options, in case anyone in your breakfast party has dietary concerns. Don't skip the home fries - we're not sure exactly what the secret is but they're delicious!

Duncan's Cafe - 60 Hurontario St, Collingwood

Duncan's is one of the most popular breakfast spots in Collingwood, and with good reason. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and the space is cool & artsy - what more could you want at breakfast time? Well...maybe their freshly squeezed OJ. And if you wake up a little bit late, they also serve lunch. Win-win!

Feature smoked salmon with cream cheese , capers on a toasted bagel with bruschetta and mixed greens and a side salad .. yum

A classic!  There are three Wimpy's locations in Barrie - 279 Yonge St, 347 Bayfield St and 441 Dunlop St - so no matter where you live in the city odds are you've eaten at Wimpy's. They serve breakfast all day, which is clutch after a late Friday/Saturday night. Nothing Can't beats the combo of delicious breakfast and a milkshake, you know?

Gibby G's serves their full menu all day, so no matter the time you show up you can get any breakfast or lunch item you desire. It's huge inside, so you rarely have to wait for a table. They also open super early (7 AM Monday-Saturday and 8 AM on Sundays and holidays), perfect for families with small kids trying to beat that breakfast rush. Fork and Plate - 2383 25th Sideroad, Innisfil

The Fork and Plate has one offering that absolutely no other breakfast joint in or around town has - a squirrel garden. Yep, that's right. A squirrel garden! Grab a seat by the window for brekky if you can, and enjoy the show. The owners have set up a garden outside for squirrels to play in, and the results are just hilarious. Oh yeah...the food here is pretty good too!

Midway Diner - 151 Bradford St, Barrie

No list like this would be complete without Midway Diner. Midway is the ultimate greasy spoon, a classic breakfast joint. Do NOT let the exterior deter you. The food at Midway is dynamite, and the appearance only adds to the charm of this Barrie staple. There's a reason people keep coming back to Midway over and over again - it's awesome.
