Titled '10,000 Ships', Game of Thrones' newest prequel has been given the green light to start pre-production.
Based on spin-off material written by George RR Martin, '10,000 Ships' follows the aftermath of the Second Spice War, 1,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones. It will follow Princess Nymeria and her people's voyage and eventual settling in Westeros after their defeat at the hands of the Valyrians. Princess Nymeria would go on to found the Kingdom of Dorne, the southernmost kingdom in Westeros (for fans of the show, this is where Prince Oberyn and the Sand Snakes are from).
There are several Game of Thrones prequels in the works, including House of Dragons, which already has sneak peek images out of the cast, and another unnamed series based on the Tales Dunk and Egg novellas also written by Martin.
There is no release date for '10,000 Ships' being so early in development, but if you can't wait to jump back into the world of Game of Thrones (or perhaps wash the taste of Season 8 out of your mouth) House of Dragons is well on its way for a 2022 release.
