Laila Biali Trio
Opening the 2021 Orillia Jazz Festival the Laila Biali Trio provides the positive, come-together messaging we need in these challenging times.
Multi award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter, pianist and CBC Music national radio host Laila Biali has headlined festivals and venues spanning five continents from New York City's Carnegie Hall to Beijing's National Centre for the Performing Arts and supported international icon Sting.
Rhythm of our World
Brassworks is pleased to present "Rhythm of our World" as part of the 2021 Orillia Jazz Festival. This show will feature a variety of special guests, including local musicians and student musicians.
Former members of Orillia-based vocal jazz group Jazzamatazz have reunited for this event and will join Brassworks on stage for a portion of the concert. Student musicians Grace Locker (Orillia Secondary School), Zach Zirger (Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School) and Laurel Van Pypen (Twin Lakes Secondary School) will also be featured. This show will include a variety of music and is sure to have something for everyone.
Oscar Peterson - The Jazz Legend and the Man I Knew
Award-winning musician, composer and producer, Lance Anderson, will bring his acclaimed musical performance and conversation about Canadian jazz legend, Oscar Peterson, to the Orillia Opera House.
Anderson will play compositions written by Peterson including selections from his Canadiana Suite and the world-renowned “Hymn to Freedom.” Anderson will be accompanied by Russ Boswell on acoustic bass. (Holly Cole, David Clayton Thomas, Harry Manx, Jackie Richardson).
This will be a night of wonderful music from the greatest Canadian jazz musician, performed by someone who knew him intimately. The audience can expect an inspiring and moving tribute by a musician who went from being in awe of a genius to being touched by the man.

The Orillia Jazz Festival takes place from Oct 15 to 17 and tickets for each show are individually priced (ranging from $25 to $35).
