It was only a matter of time. Netflix is creating a real-life “Squid Game” show.
Non-lethal, of course.
“Squid Game: The Challenge” is loosely based on their immensely popular Korean show in which financially desperate people compete in dangerous games to win money, all for the amusement of the rich.
Much like the original concept, 456 players will enter the games for a chance to win $4.56 million. The main difference is there’s no violence, and no one gets killed. Phew!
Creators say the worst thing to happen to contestants is they walk away empty-handed.
The concept sounds good, but some critics point out this real-life version misses the point of the original show that shines a light on wealth disparity.
