Kim Kardashian did not wreck Marilyn Monroe's dress.
Ripleys's Believe It or Not! says the crystal-covered masterpiece is no worse for wear after Kardashian wore it to the Met Gala last month.
The skin-tight dress, known as the Mr. President dress, was first worn by Monroe when she sang Happy Birthday to John F. Kennedy in 1962.
Kardashian borrowed the dress for a few minutes on May 2, as she walked up the Met stairs, then promptly changed into a replica.
Someone from the museum was with her the whole time.
Fast forward to June 12, someone took a picture of the dress on display at Ripley's Hollywood, showing damage to the threads and stones.
He then sent the pictures to a Monroe historian who shared the images on social media.
He blasted the decision to allow Kardashian to wear it to the gala.
"I have seen this dress throughout the years and have worked with it myself, and I knew immediately that there was irreparable damage done."
Ripley's has responded in defense of Kardashian saying
"A report written on the dress's condition in early 2017 states, 'a number of the seams are pulled and worn. This is not surprising given how delicate the material is. There is puckering at the back by the hooks and eyes,' among other instances of damage."
"From the bottom of the Met steps, where Kim got into the dress, to the top where it was returned, the dress was in the same condition it started in."
