Ireland Baldwin has come forward to share her story in response to the Roe Vs. Wade ruling in the United States being overturned.
On Tic Tok, the 26-year-old model and daughter of Alec Balwin and Kim Basinger revealed she was raped when she was a teenager, a secret she kept for many years.
"I was raped when I was a teenager and completely unconscious when it happened. The only person who knew was a nurse that treated me shortly after."
Baldwin says that experience changed the course of her life, and she began down a self-destructive path of drinking, partying, and self-medicating.
She says she is sharing her story because she wants other women to feel loved and supported, whether they want to share their personal stories or not, in light of the U.S reversing Roe Vs. Wade last week.
"It got me thinking about what my life would have been like if I had become pregnant( from the assault) and if I had to raise a baby during everything I was going through at the time."
"It would have simply been traumatizing and impossible," she adds.
Baldwin says she became pregnant years later and chose to have an abortion.
Could I have had that baby and put that baby up for adoption? Maybe, maybe not, but choosing to raise a baby without my own financial security, without a loving and supportive partner, that wasn't going to work for me."
