The Rocky universe is expanding again.
MGM is developing another spinoff of the boxing franchise, focusing on Ivan Drago, played by Dolph Lundgren.
Fans will clearly remember the Russian boxer in the 1985 sequel "Rocky IV," in which he kills Apollo Creed in the ring and ultimately loses to Rocky Balboa in his home country of Russia.
Rumours of a sequel have been around since Drago returned to the franchise in the 2018 film "Creed II," another spinoff of "Rocky."
In "Creed II," we see a different and even sympathetic side as he trains his son Viktor to fight Apollo's son, Adonis Creed.
Details on if the movie will be a prequel or sequel are being kept under wraps, but we know who's writing it.
According to "The Wrap," screenwriter Robert Lawton was tapped to write the script after the big guys at MGM liked a spec script he wrote called "Becoming Rocky."
The biopic would have been about a young Sylvester Stallone making the first film.
Execs took a pass on the biopic but gave him the task of writing the Drago spinoff.
