A new dating trend makes being ghosted seem like a nice thing.
Lately, people over social media have shared their experiences of being "zombied."
In case you're not familiar with the term "ghosted," it means that someone you have been talking to or seeing stops responding to you and ignores you altogether.
Zombies are when those ghosts return from the dead and start talking to you again.
Singer-songwriter Mariel Darling shared this latest toxic dating trend on TikTok.
"Girl, you're being ghosted?" I'm being zombied, it's like ghosting, but he comes back from the dead after a couple months and hits you up," she explained.
Her followers shared their stories of being zombied.
One person jokes, "Mine has a Jesus Christ complex, he comes back every three days."
"Happens to me all the time. They come back out of nowhere. And it's always a few at the same time. Like they planned it." One follower shared.
This is some good advice.
"I saw someone say she puts gravestone emojis on their name in contacts so she knows not to deal with them anymore
Although this concept of relationship manipulation isn't new, the term is updated and nails it.
In an interview with news.com.au , dating expert Samantha Jayne explained this behaviour is toxic.
It can be extremely damaging and confusing. It impacts self-confidence and leaves someone feeling anxious about abandonment."
"When an old flame you are over returns out of the blue without an explanation and expects things to be normal, it is cruel and can leave you feeling bewildered.
