Poor Elmo really is living in grouch land.
Earlier this week, beloved Elmo from Sesame Street got more than anticipated when he asked the internet how they were doing.
Now the world is defending the sweet red fuzz ball after Larry David attacked him on live television.
It stems from the internet responding honestly to Elmo with their worries, fears, and sometimes scary interpretations. It was "an emotional trauma dump."
While appearing on the "Today Show" on Thursday to discuss the responses he got from people, Elmo got his face shoved by another guest, Larry David.
David was on the show promoting the final season of his show "Curb Your Enthusiasm."
Once David walked away, Elmo responded,
"Mr. Larry, Elmo liked you before," before adding, "Let's sit back on the couch and talk about how you're feeling.
David later apologized for letting his emotions get the best of him, and Elmo graciously accepted his apology.
Many people came to Elmo's defence, including performer T-Pain, who posted. "I know I didn't just see my mans @elmo assaulted on live TV." along with "@elmo. Just say the word."

T-Pain responded to Elmo's original tweet earlier this week, saying "I'm just looking for somebody to talk to and show me some love if you know what I mean."
Elmo needs to open up a therapy practice.
