It's a story Ontario residents remember well: rumours of the Toronto Mayor smoking crack.

The story will be a side plot in episode 4 of Law and Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, which airs on March 14.

According to the Toronto Star, this week's episode will mostly centre around the mysterious death of a journalist and features a crack-smoking mayor during a heated electoral race, an apparent nod to late Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

In 2013, the late Mayor, Rob Ford, was in the headlines nationwide for a lot of controversial reasons, including allegations of smoking crack.

He passed away in March 2016.

Stories on Law And Order are fictional but inspired by real headlines.
