It’s a rich history of building Canadian infrastructure that dates back to 1957. DECAST, a proud local company has continually grown its concrete solutions business, expanding 10 times over the past 30 years. Their business now includes water transmission projects, highway bridges, storm and sanitary systems, subway tunnel liners and engineered precast products. The company was originally founded in North Bay, Ontario to provide precast products for the local market.
OVER THE PAST 30 YEARS
In 1989 DECAST relocated to their current location in Utopia. Their new manufacturing facility was designed to produce maintenance holes and catch basins. An expansion took place in 1996 with a 20,000 square foot build-out that allowed DECAST to manufacture reinforced concrete pipes and broaden the company’s storm and sanitary product portfolio. Shortly afterwards in 2002, DECAST added a massive 160,000 square foot manufacturing facility to meet an increase in consumer demand.
RAPID EXPANSION
DECAST’S reputation in leading infrastructure solutions continued to grow and in 2003, they built a new state-of-the-art facility to manufacture concrete pressure pipes. Throughout each addition, DECAST created new jobs and new opportunities for its expanding workforce. By 2008 it was time to expand once again, allowing for the production of large engineered products such as box culverts, box maintenance holes, modular bridge systems and steel fittings.
The company developed a Field Services department in 2009 for installation assistance for concrete pressure pipe and large engineered precast products. Just a few years later a new 60,000 square foot expansion took place for girders and engineered precast along with a 16,000 square foot office expansion to accommodate for the company’s growing engineering team. Another 100,000 square foot expansion in 2012 paved the way for automated rebar production, tunnel segments and railway ties.
In 2016, the company officially changed its name to DECAST, and added a 5,500 square foot shotcrete facility. The most recent expansion, their 10th in 30 years, was in 2019 when DECAST added 33,000 square feet to their bridge girder and engineered precast capabilities. solutions.
Now with a total of 510,000 square feet of indoor manufacturing in 100% controlled conditions, DECAST really is; good people with concrete solutions.
