Pedestrian struck and killed in downtown Barrie

A woman is dead after being struck by a truck making a delivery on Mary Street at Dunlop Street West in downtown Barrie.

Barrie police communications coordinator Peter Leon tells Barrie 360 that officers were called to the location shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Leon says the truck was leaving after having made the delivery when the woman was hit.

The location of the incident is where a condominium is being constructed, and Leon added that the Ministry of Labour has been contacted.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Police continue to investigate.
