A field day for suspects who broke into an unlocked vehicle in Barrie

Police say eight fraudulent transactions were made in a two-hour time span
Barrie Police

Barrie Police is reminding the public to always lock their car doors when they leave their vehicle unattended.

The reminder comes after credit cards, money and raffle tickets for a local charity were swiped from a vehicle on Silver Maple Crescent in the south end of the city on Tuesday.

Afterwards, police say the suspects made eight fraudulent transactions in a two-hour time span.

Then on Wednesday, a resident walking their dog in the Ardagh Bluffs area across from the Peggy Hill Team Community Centre found pieces of identification belonging to the resident on Silver Maple Crescent. As police were returning the identification to the owner, a neighbour alerted officers that his unlocked car was also ransacked, and a pair of sunglasses and some loose change were missing.

Police ask that you email Constable Watson at dwatson@barriepolice.ca if you recognize either of the suspects.

Video surveillance can be helpful to police, and Barrie Police encourages the public to register with the Service’s Security Camera Registry as your participation can help to identify those who choose to participate in criminal activity within your neighbourhood. The registry is available by clicking onto the following link:  https://www.barriepolice.ca/camera-registry/.
