Orillia OPP probing vehicle fire over the weekend

OPP upgrade charges after driver dies of injuries in Highway 12 crash near Gambridge

A vehicle fire over the weekend is under investigation by provincial police in Orillia.

OPP and the Orillia Fire Department were dispatched to the Atherley Road and Highway 12 area around 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

"Police attended the scene and observed a vehicle fully engulfed in flames," OPP wrote in a media release.

They say the crime unit was called in to assist with the investigation.

"As a result of the initial findings the fire will be treated as suspicious and the investigation will continue," OPP added.

Anyone who has dash cam footage of Atherley Road and Highway 12 area - near the old skate park - between 8:30 a.m. and 9:10 a.m. is asked to contact Orillia OPP at 705-326-3536 or 1-888-310-1122.
