A Huntsville man who was bound by a recognizance with the conditions to keep the peace, be of good behaviour and not to possess weapons is accused of shooting an air rifle while seated in a car.
Ontario Provincial Police were on West Road in Huntsville when they were alerted about the situation on Wednesday evening. Police were told the air rifle was pointed in the direction of another person. An air rifle was seized and a 21-year-old was charged with:
- Assault with a weapon contrary to section 267 (a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
- Use imitation of a firearm while committing an offence contrary to section 85 (2)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
Police also tacked on an additional charge as a result of what they say was the suspect's breach of recognizance associated with an unrelated criminal matter. The suspect was charged with the following:
- Two counts of breach of recognizance contrary to section 811 of the Criminal Code of Canada.
He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear on September 27, 2022, in the Ontario Court of Justice, Muskoka.
The investigation is ongoing and the OPP would like to speak with a male and female that were walking their dog on West Road at the time of this occurrence.
