Huronia West OPP say they are investigating the drowning of a swimmer in the Nottawasaga River in Wasaga Beach Saturday afternoon.
Just before 5:30 p.m., on August 13, officers responded to a call for a possible drowning in Wasaga Beach Provincial Park.
Police say the initial information was that a swimmer entered the water in beach area, close to a boat launch, and failed to resurface.
First responders recovered and brought the victim to shore where CPR was administered.
The victim was then transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased. They have been identified as 42-year-old Kuljit Dhinsa of Richmond Hill.
Officers say the death is believed to be non-suspicious, and no foul play is suspected.
Huronia West OPP are continuing the investigation in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto.
