A 77-year-old from Mississauga has been charged with drug trafficking after Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop in the Orillia area.

Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, police say they pulled over a vehicle following a traffic complaint from the public.

"While conducting the traffic stop officers observed drugs and drug paraphernalia. The individual was taken into custody without incident and has been charged with multiple drug trafficking charges after a quantity of drugs and Canadian currency was seized," OPP stated in a news release.

Police said the drugs that were seized included cocaine and fentanyl.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing.
