In 58 minutes on Thursday night, two people who showed up at Barrie Police Headquarters on separate business left with their driver's licences suspended, and in one case, had their vehicle impounded because of impaired driving charges.

Police say a 38-year-old man went to headquarters to surrender himself on an outstanding warrant.

"The investigating officer confirmed the warrant and based upon observations that were made, issued an alcohol screening device test which the male failed. A qualified breathalyzer technician conducted additional tests that confirmed that the male had a concentration of alcohol in his blood, but that he was not in excess of the legal limit," police said in a news release.

The male was later released after being charged fail to comply with and undertaking and fail to comply with a release order.

"His driver’s licence was suspended for 3-days for having a blood alcohol concentration between 0.05-0.079," police added.

Soon after that incident, a 33-year-old man arrived at police headquarters to determine if a family member was in custody.

According to police, he was displaying obvious signs of impairment and was arrested.

After a test by a breathalyzer technician, the man was charged with impaired driving.

His car has been impounded for seven days, and his driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days.
