Nottawasaga OPP officer presented with an award for ongoing excellence in community service

The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is proud to announce that on October 31, 2024, Provincial Constable (PC) Katy Viccary was presented with an award for her ongoing excellence in community service, recognizing her outstanding dedication, compassion, and service to our local community.

Since 2020, PC Viccary has collaborated with Cathy Eisener, a public health nurse with the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) Substance Use and Injury Prevention Program. The two have worked tirelessly together on numerous public awareness campaigns in the hopes that working as community partners, it would expand their audience in an effort to help save lives when it comes to opioids, drug use, addictions, and mental health awareness.

During an award ceremony which took place at OPP General Headquarters (GHQ) yesterday on Thursday October 31, 2024, PC Viccary and Cathy Eisener were presented awards for excellence in community service by OPP Commissioner Thomas Carrique. This award honours their commitment to building trust, improving community safety and well being, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of our residents.

PC Viccary has served with the Ontario Provincial Police since 2017, and prior to that was a dedicated Toronto Police Officer since 2009. PC Viccary's consistently demonstrating a commitment to positive community engagement and an unwavering dedication to public service. Known for her friendly approach and problem-solving skills, PC Viccary has been instrumental in local and regional OPP initiatives and public awareness campaigns primarily aimed at public education, stigma reduction, and supporting community members relating to Opioid deaths, addictions, with an emphasis on Mental Health Awareness.
