The City of Barrie invites residents to provide their input for the future of transportation.

A Transportation Master Plan is a detailed, long-term planning document that explains how the City will enhance, manage, and invest in transportation infrastructure. The plan helps shape how people and goods move within the community. Barrie’s current Transportation Master Plan was last updated in 2019.

This update of the Transportation Master Plan will address future growth to align with provincial plans to grow the city into a regional urban centre with a forecasted population of 298,000 and 150,000 jobs by 2051. The plan will recommend improvements for active transportation, transit, trails, and roads.

The first Public Information Centre meeting will take place on November 14, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Peggy Hill Team Community Centre (171 Mapleton Ave., Barrie). This is a drop-in event that is open to all members of the public. The meeting will introduce the project and provide an opportunity for the public to share their opinions on the future of transportation in Barrie.

In addition to the public meeting, there are other ways to get involved and provide input:

  • Register for project updates and news
  • Provide input through the map toolidea board, or ask questions via the Q & A section
  • Attend future public meetings (there will be two additional Public Information Centre meetings for this project)
