A fire that erupted around 7:30 Tuesday morning destroyed a home in Oro-Medonte.

According to Fire Chief Roree Payment, crews were called to a blaze at a residence on Highway 12 west of Warminster.

Payment said the occupant of the home got out safely and was woken up by a passerby who reported the fire.

He said two tankers from Severn Township were brought in to assist battling the blaze.

The fire is believed to have started in the garage area.
