Festivals and events in downtown Barrie this summer delivered an economic impact of over $15 million, according to the Downtown BIA.
More than 300,000 people took part in the many events.
The Air Show was the top draw, followed by the Butter Tart Festival, and Classic Car Shows.
Open Air Dunlop Highlights:
- Air Show (in partnership with the City of Barrie and Base Borden): Over 120,000 visitors in just two days.
- Canada Day celebrations: 41,000 visitors.
- Butter Tart Festival: 42,000 visitors.
- Classic Car Show: 41,000 visitors.
- Eats On The Streets: 35,000 visitors.
“These results highlight the power of creative programming and partnerships in supporting our businesses and fostering a dynamic downtown,” says Steve Ricalis, Chair of the Downtown Barrie BIA. “We are excited to build on this momentum in 2025.”
Beyond Open Air Dunlop, other community events, such as Lawnchair Luminata Outdoor Movies and the Noella Tree Lighting Celebration with the Chamber Santa Claus Parade, helped make downtown Barrie a hub for connection, culture, and celebration.
