It was not a perfect landing for a snowmobiler in Midland.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say a snowmobiler riding along a trail next to Aberdeen Boulevard rolled off a snowbank right in front of two officers on Sunday evening.

The officers entered into an impaired driving investigation.

The driver was arrested and taken back to the Southern Georgian Bay OPP detachment, while police at the trail allegedly found numerous empty beer cans aboard the snowmobile.

A 41-year-old Midland man was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

His driver's licence was suspended for 90 days, and the snowmobile has been impounded for seven days.

The accused has a court date next week.
