
A man allegedly threatened an off-duty Barrie Police Service cop with an edged weapon.
Barrie police say the incident happened Tuesday afternoon around 2 p.m.
"The off-duty officer was walking westbound on Clapperton Street near Worsley Street when he and his spouse were approached and threatened," police stated in a release today.
"The off-duty officer immediately contacted the Barrie Police Communications Unit and provided a detailed description of the male. He maintained updates as to his whereabouts and that of the armed male until responding officers arrived in the area."

The suspect was arrested at the Bayfield and Dunlop streets intersection and taken to police headquarters.
A 39-year-old from Barrie was charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
He has a bail hearing scheduled for today.
"Thankfully, this incident was isolated, and after the initial threat was made, there was no further risk to public safety," police said.
