Ontario Provincial Police have taken a major step toward curbing drug trafficking in the Southern Georgian Bay-area following a targeted operation on Tuesday morning.
Just after 9:30 a.m. on June 18, members of multiple OPP detachments executed coordinated search warrants at a residence on Gignac Drive in Penetanguishene and a retail business on Midland Avenue in Midland. The result: one person taken into custody, and a wide array of drugs, weapons, and cash removed from local streets.
Officers seized large quantities of crystal meth, powder and crack cocaine, several prescription opioids including Oxycodone and Dilaudid, as well as roughly $47,000 in Canadian currency. Officers also found brass knuckles, 100 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and trafficking paraphernalia such as digital scales and vacuum sealing equipment.

The search warrants were carried out by a multi-unit team, including the OPP Community Street Crime Units from Southern Georgian Bay, Muskoka, Huronia West, and Collingwood, with backup from tactical, canine, and uniformed officers. OPP emphasized the role of regional cooperation in the success of the operation.
The accused faces numerous charges, including several counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of prohibited ammunition, possession of proceeds obtained by crime, and failure to comply with a probation order.
