Public Art Installation Reception

Details

The library is proud to unveil  Flight of the Knowledge Keepers  by Annwin, winner of a call for proposals for a public art installation by an Indigenous artist. Her artwork reflects "the cyclical journey of learning, oral traditions, and knowledge sharing among community, family, and friends — carried from within and out into the world on the wings of each individual journey of flight through life." Rooted in the history of Bradford West Gwillimbury as the beginning of the Carrying Place Trail, Annwin's piece invites reflection on knowledge, freedom, and the ways information brings us together while celebrating our diversity.

Supported by Experience Simcoe County and the Friends of the Library, Annwin’s proposal was selected by an Indigenous-led steering committee made up of BWG community members and representatives from the Library and STEPS Public Art.
