Barrie police have charged a suspect with second-degree murder in the death of a 47-year-old man who died Monday following a confrontation downtown.
A second suspect is being sought.
Police say the 32-year-old of no fixed address was arrested Monday evening. Besides the murder charge, he has also been charged with robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and assault with a weapon.
Investigators continue to look for a second suspect who is approximately 45 years old and may be missing fingers or a thumb on one hand. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a brown jacket, a black hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants. Anyone who has information about his man is asked not to approach him but call police.
Police have said there was a confrontation between a group of people on Monday just before 8:20 a.m. near 24 Collier Street.
Following the incident, a man made his way to a Dunlop Street East diner where he collapsed. He was treated by paramedics and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
