
Barrie residents and visitors are invited to step inside some of the city’s most intriguing spaces this Saturday, September 27, as Doors Open Barrie returns with a full day of free, behind-the-scenes access to local landmarks.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., more than a dozen sites will open their doors, offering guided tours, interactive experiences, and a chance to uncover the stories behind Barrie’s architecture, heritage, and creative spirit.
What to See and Do
Whether you're a history buff, art lover, or curious explorer, there's something for everyone:
- Allandale Recreation Centre – Take a Sports Hall of Fame quiz with Mariposa School of Skating and Hall of Fame members.
- Barrie Fire & Emergency Services HQ – Tour a modern facility with museum exhibits and striking architecture.
- Barrie Mosque – Enjoy hourly guided tours and complimentary refreshments.
- Barrie Public Library (Downtown) – Dive into Culture Days programming.
- Barrie Simcoe Emergency Services Campus – Meet community officers and explore the building.
- Barrie South Simcoe Métis Council – Learn about Métis heritage and traditions.
- Barrie Visitor Information Centre – Visit a historic building and discover local attractions.

Doors Open Barrie is part of the province-wide Doors Open Ontario initiative by the Ontario Heritage Trust. Locally, it’s hosted by the City of Barrie, the Heritage Committee, and Tourism Barrie, and aligns with Barrie’s Culture Days programming.
