The Stand by Canadian Playwright Jennifer Walton presented by Wasaga Community Theatre

Life in a quiet lakeside town is about to get complicated. When plans for a new housing development threaten a cherished patch of local woods, neighbours find themselves on opposite sides of the debate — and long-standing friendships are suddenly tested.

At the centre is Louise Wilson, a birdwatcher who never expected to become an activist, and her best friend Justine, whose developer husband has big plans for the land. Add in a daughter freshly home from university, a son torn between family duty and his own heart, and a community full of opinions, and the stage is set for secrets, surprises, and more than a few laughs.

Witty and warm, The Stand is a Canadian comedy about friendship, family, and the unexpected ways a community comes together when something worth protecting is at stake.
