'Potentially fatal consequences,' says Bracebridge OPP after rocks thrown at moving vehicles

Bracebridge OPP says it is investigating two incidents last month in which rocks were thrown at moving vehicles, causing damage to windshields but no injuries.

On Saturday, October 7, at around 2:15 p.m. on Highway 118 East near Kirst Road, police say a rock struck the windshield of a moving vehicle, causing damage. Investigators believe the rock was deliberately thrown from a nearby rock cut into traffic.

At around 1:45 p.m. the following day, police responded to a similar incident in the same area after a second windshield and the hood of their vehicle were damaged.

"This behaviour is extremely dangerous with potentially fatal consequences," OPP said in a news release. "Police are asking for information from anyone who may reside near or have been travelling through the area of Highway 118 East near Kirst Road.
