Tim Hortons is bringing back its beloved Holiday Smile Cookie campaign this week, and this year, every cookie sold at Barrie’s 26 Tim Hortons locations will help fight hunger in the community.
Proceeds from the campaign will go to the Barrie Food Bank, which is facing an unprecedented surge in demand. The food bank recorded more than 8,100 visits last month, a 16% increase from last year, with record numbers of seniors and children seeking assistance.
“We are in the middle of a hunger crisis right here in Barrie,” says Karen Shuh, Executive Director of the Barrie Food Bank. “The simple act of buying a cookie helps fill a grocery cart for a neighbour who’s struggling to put food on the table. The need has never been greater, and this campaign couldn’t come at a more important time.”
Last year’s Holiday Smile Cookie campaign raised an impressive $54,593.72 for the Barrie Food Bank. This year, the organization hopes the community’s generosity will help meet its holiday fundraising goal of $1,160,000, ensuring families and individuals have access to nutritious food throughout the winter season.
The Holiday Smile Cookie is a festive white-chocolate sugar cookie with red and green sprinkles, each hand-decorated with a signature white smile. It’s a sweet way to spread joy while making a real difference.
“The generosity of Tim Hortons, their teams, and this community is critical in helping us keep up with the growing demand,” Shuh adds.
