Driver charged after snowplow collides with Highway 11 overpass in Oro-Medonte

A 64-year-old Barrie resident has been charged after a snowplow struck a highway overpass in Oro-Medonte on Wednesday afternoon, causing a significant traffic disruption.

OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) officers were called around 1:30 p.m. after witnesses reported a snowplow travelling with its bed raised in the area of Penetanguishene Road and Partridge Road.

Police say the plow collided with the bridge at Penetanguishene Road and Highway 11, becoming stuck

The OPP, assisted by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and County of Simcoe, remained in the area for several hours while the vehicle was removed and the bridge was assessed.
