Two people were injured, including a York Regional Police officer, following a three-vehicle collision on Highway 400 northbound just north of County Road 88 in Bradford, involving a transport truck and two SUVs.
Just before 4 a.m. Tuesday, provincial police said a tractor-trailer lost power for some reason and came to rest on the right shoulder, partially blocking the right lane. A short time later, a passenger vehicle struck the back of the tractor-trailer, sending it out of control, and was struck by the second passenger vehicle.
The two SUV drivers were taken to the hospital. The police officer, who was reportedly off-duty at the time, suffered serious injuries.
The northbound lanes of the 400 remain closed for the investigation.
