Additional paid off-duty cop to be a presence at parks and beaches in Gravenhurst

Town believes extra police presence will help deter unlawful behaviour

An additional paid off-duty OPP officer will patrol parks and beaches in the Town of Gravenhurst due to increased activity.

Council agreed to have the officer available for the remaining Saturdays of the summer as part of its COVID-19 strategy.

The Town expects an enhanced police presence will help deter unlawful behaviour that has been happening of late and support efforts of by-law enforcement.

With more visitors utilizing beaches and parks in Gravenhurst, there is extra attention being paid to the Ungerman Gateway Park. (Lorne St. Beach) which has not reopened this season for safety due to ongoing maintenance to repair shoreline retaining walls. Those who use the beach will be considered to be trespassing and may be charged.
