Ann-Marie Kungl wins Barrie Ward 3 byelection

Infrastructure, spending among her priorities

The newest face on Barrie City Council belongs to Ann-Marie Kungl.

She replaces Doug Shipley who was elected in the last federal election.

Kungl a 16-year resident of the city and former chair of Alzheimer Society Simcoe County and board member of the Barrie East End Household Association as well as the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka.

Fiscal responsibility and maintaining and improving the city’s infrastructure are among her priorities, especially in established neighbourhoods.

Kungl took 29.4 percent of the vote. Her closest rival was Tanya Saari at 23.2 percent.

Voter turnout was 23.8 percent.
